Empowering youth with dreadlock education and community support.
Loctician-to-Boss Micro-Enterprise Lab
What it is: A short training series where youth learn the business side of the hair industry (pricing, hygiene, booking, customer service, content marketing).
Innovation: Youth create a real mini “service menu” + mock bookings + a basic business plan.
Outcome: Job readiness + entrepreneurship; culminates in a “pop-up shop day” supervised by licensed pros
The “Grades & Fades” Achievement Pathway
What it is: Youth earn monthly hair services for hitting measurable goals (attendance, grades, behavior, tutoring hours).
Innovation: A points-based “Growth Score” (not just GPA) so students who improve get rewarded.
How it runs: School verifies goals → youth book slots → mentors do 10-minute check-ins during service.
What it is: A 6-week self-esteem curriculum paired with grooming/self-care (no therapy language needed).
Innovation: Combine “identity, self-talk, boundaries, and goal-setting” with before/after reflection journals and short video affirmations.
Partner add-on: Local counselors or youth coaches can co-facilitate.
